Grey's Anatomy blog

Grey's Anatomy Season 12 Episode 8

GOOD TECHNIQUES:

I like the different shots being used. The showing of nasty body parts and blood takes real effort. The producer did a good job of showing each of the characters personality and job focus. It also shows good makeup work.

BAD TECHNIQUES:

The producer did a bad job of showing the hurt persons point of view. I would like to have seen one episode on what the patients think. I want to know if they like how they were treated and if they liked the service. Overall the show isn't a bad show and the producer is very smart.

WHAT I WILL IMPLEMENT:

I will implement the coloring in the camera work so the color can also effect the mood. I will also implement the seriousness of all the different things going on. I also want to add the different camera angles that are added. There are many things to add but only some of them can be added to journalism.

Kids get Halloween Surprise

Nearly 40 lucky kiddos will be trick-or-treating in style, sporting their brand new, absolutely epic wheelchair costumes built by Magic Wheelchair, a nonprofit that teams with volunteers across the country to create the elaborate ensembles fitted for their chairs.
“It impacts these kids in a deeper way than just the smile on their face,” Magic Wheelchair’s founder, Ryan Weimer of Kaizer, Oregon, told ABC News. “That’s one of the beautiful things of what we do. They really get the sense of what true joy is.”

The writer did a good job of including sentimental words and used good tone to make the readers feel happy for the kids. I think the author could have  used more pictures because all the costumes were so cute!! I will add the tone into my writing skills for my writing! I can't wait to use these skills.

Tom Petty Died

Rocker Tom Petty died Monday after being rushed to a Los Angeles hospital, according to Tony Dimitriades, longtime manager of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Dimitriades confirmed Petty's death on behalf of the performer's family.
He was 66.
"He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center but could not be revived. He died peacefully at 8:40pm PT surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends," Dimitriades said in a statement.
The group finished a summer tour with three performances at the Hollywood Bowl last week.
Petty and the Heartbreakers first came to fame in the 1970s. It was both with that group and as a solo artist that Petty had a string of hits across the decades, including "Free Fallin'," "American Girl" and "I Won't Back Down."
The reporter did well on giving the who, what, when, what and why in the first paragraph. He gave good detail about Tom Petty's death. Also the reporter used diction and a proper word choice to send out the "peaceful" death.
The reporter did a great job. One because he covered Tom Petty (the greatest artist alive) and he did a great job on recapping his life.

I definitely will not be learning from this and you cannot force this into my brain.

I am not a leader.

Twitter won't take down the Trump tweet

On Sept. 23, Trump tweeted, "Just heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at U.N. If he echoes thoughts of Little Rocket Man, they won't be around much longer!" The phrase "Little Rocket Man" refers to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. In a statement on Monday, Ri said: "Since the United States declared war on our country, we will have every right to make all self-defensive counter measures, including the right to shoot down the United States strategic bombers at any time even when they are not yet inside the aerospace border of our country."White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said the U.S. has not declared war on North Korea. "Frankly, the suggestion of that is absurd," she said on Monday. Twitter faced questions on Monday from users on its platform about why the company hadn't taken the tweet down and whether Trump's tweet violated the company's rules. Those rules indicate the company can suspend an account that is deemed to have engaged in violent threats; attacks on people based on race, religion, gender and more; or "targeted abuse or harassment of others." In a six-tweet response thread, Twitter said that when it considers removing a tweet, one of the factors it takes into account the newsworthiness and public interest of the post. The company also said it is "committed to transparency and keeping people informed about what's happening in the world."
I think the reporter did a good job because he showed great writing skills and good descriptive details. I will use this descriptive writing next time I write about my reporting.

France's 2018 Winter Olympics team considers skipping due to security

French Sports Minister Laura Flessel said Thursday it is possible France will skip the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, due to security concerns.
According to Reuters, Flessel told RTL radio that if "our security cannot be assured, the French team will stay at home." Worldwide tension continues to mount as the United States and North Korea engage in concerning rhetoric regarding nuclear capabilities.
Flessel made it clear no decision has been made at this point, saying, "We're not there yet."
United States President Donald Trump announced Thursday several sanctions to be placed on North Korea in an effort to minimize its nuclear threat.

They reporter did really well with gathering the 5 w's. I felt like they could have provided more information or a statement from the athletes. I learned how to make good headlines. I will apply their creative headline styles into my writing as a reporter

boy find rare condition via hot dog

A 9-year-old boy who was enjoying a hot dog took a massive bite -- and went into cardiac arrest. But choking wasn't the cause, according to a study published Wednesday in the journal Pediatrics.
The terrifying incident had a much more unlikely cause, according to Dr. Isa Ozyilmaz. The chunk of frankfurter stimulated the boy's vagus nerve, and this triggered an abnormal heart rhythm that in turn caused his heart to abruptly stop beating, Ozyilmaz and his co-authors speculated in the case study. The nerve, which extends from the head to the abdomen, helps the heart and gastrointestinal system function. Overall the boy had a happy ending but did discover his rare condition called Brigade Syndrome.

Reflection Blog-video

This year in video taught me so much! I learned both entertainment filming and convergence filming. Technology wise I learned how to use the program Premiere Pro. It was important because I used it all year and I will use it in the next to years of e-comm. I only faced a couple of technology problems but I eventually got help and corrected mistakes. Collaboration really came in handy this year because we had to many group projects. It was important to learn becasue we did it so often. The only time I ever faced problems was when we needed to film things and none of us could all meet at the same time. Communication was key this year to working in groups. It was important to use this skill because we had to communicate and learn how to work with everyones schedule. I didn't not face a lot go problems with communicating because everyone would contribute and try to make things work for them as well. I learned Project management is very important because filming and editing these projects is a lot of work and if we do not have it done in time you don't get a good grade. I faced a couple of challeneges with this because sometimes filming would take longer than we expected. Leadership I learned is important when you are filming entertainment because you need to get a certain amount of clips done in a certain amount of time so we need a t least on leader that will help show us the way and control the situation. I did not face any challenges with this because either I or one of my group members would always keep everyone in check.
My greatest strength was editing! I really edited quick, fast cut shots which made my projects more interesting. My biggest weakness was getting enough shot for b-roll in convergence. My biggest weakness in entertainment was actually being creative.
I am going to take what I have learned and carry it over to convergence this next school year. I wouldn't change anything for sophomore video class because it gave you the best of both worlds.
Overall I am extremely excited to move into ONW NOW next year and take what I have learned this year and transfer it over! Thank you Mr.Cooper!!!!
