 Polything Project

In this project we were being introduced into the program Maya. I learned the basic tools like union, and difference. I learned well with the tutorial Mr. Netterville posted to Google Classroom. I picked this project because it was a Maya project and I really enjoy Maya because  it is more realistic. My greatest strength was forming the polything but my biggest weakness was remembering to name each object. I have improved much more because I remember to name all the objects. I am going to use these skills and apply them to my memory so for my future projects I can memorize them and get done quicker. There is nothing I would change about the project because I thought I did a pretty good job for my 2nd project in Maya.

Hammer Project

In this project I learned how to use to switch to the vertices tool to move the end of the hammer. I learned this by following the tutorial we were provided. I picked this project because this was my favorite project because it was the easiest one for me because the tutorial was very well explained. My greatest strength would have to be editing the end of the hammer and making it pointy and my biggest weakness would have to be the stem of the hammer because it is a little too thick. I am going to use these different tools like the vertices and faces to apply to my memory again to become faster at making things in Maya. There is nothing I would change because I really enjoyed the project because it was so easy for me.

Cup Project

In this project I learned how to use the curve tools. I learned how to apply this to Maya by following directions from Mr. Netterville. I picked this project because I like the shape I ended up with. Once I was done with editing my cup I ended up looking not too bad. My greatest strengths for this project would have to have been the curving of the cup from the front angle. My greatest weakness would have to be changing the length of the cup stem. I have improved from this project because I have learned how to stretch tools and edit their original shape. I know at some point I am going to use the curve tool again because it is such a common tool. So by learning this simple tool I helped myself in the future by learning it now and practicing it. The only thing I would change for my project would be the height of the cup because it is so stout.

Saltshaker Project

In this project I learned how to edit a circle into a weird shape. I learned this by following instructions on Mr. Netterville's helpful tutorial. I picked this project because the shape of the saltshaker may be odd but it is sort of cool. My greatest strength was making the cap and using the difference tool to make all the different holes but my greatest weakness was lining up the project to all be even. I have improved from this project by perfecting my difference tool and learning to practice with evening out the objects. I am going to use these tools toward future projects and make the process of making 3D objects. The only thing I would change is the body of the saltshaker because it is a bit wide and it doesn't look like a saltshaker I would have.

 Ice Cream Project

In this project I learned how to animate something in Maya. I learned this by following the tutorial given to me. I picked this project because it was my favorite Maya project next to the hammer project. I liked it the best because of all the fun colors and it turned out pretty good. My greatest strength was making the simple shapes like the cone an the scoops of ice cream. My biggest weakness was the hyper shade. I have improved with hyper shade after working with it but I think I leave out steps to conduct the shade and so I doesn't show up on my project. I am going to use these tools to apply to my future projects to make them more realistic. There is nothing I would change about this project because it was the most fun project out of all of the projects.

Article Review Blog-Video

Article Review

The story that I read consisted of two women who were raped and then one of the women was murdered. The article tells how the man hurt them with knifes and physically abused them. The strength of this article was the amount of detail that was put in. But the weakness of the story would have to be that the amount of detail was disturbing to a certain point. The story is not an argument at all. It is just a man reviewing a news story. A critique that could be done would be give less graphic details. As a news reporter I will use this article as a reference when writing the written stories to my videos.

Professional Article Review-Animation

MAYA SOFTWARE

In this article the author speaks about how he was introduced to Maya in his college 3D animation class and how the Maya software became so popular for its neat tools, and quick shortcuts. The author doesn't necessarily have an argument he really is just explaining the purpose of Maya and some of it's features it involves. The author speaks of how the key frame feature in Maya makes the animations very clear. What the author struggled with was finishing the article. He only included 3 things about Maya even thought there are many more than that. The strength would be the detail he discussed about with the features he did list. His general conclusions was just saying to go get Maya and try it out and if you don't like it than delete it but if you do like it go take classes and learn how to experiment with it. My one critique about the article would be to add more information about the program instead of giving vague information. I feel like the explanation that he gave about the program would inspire people to go give Maya a try. The article gave me different tips that I can use at school when using Maya!

This featured story was covering chance the rapper who is an independent song writer. He makes a unique style of music that represents freedom through a mixture of R&B, Hip-Hop, Rap, and gospel. The video speaks about his journey from starting in a public library in his home town to hitting the leader boards repeatedly. The project is done by Robbin Roberts who is a well respected anchor in america who has been on the daily show good morning america for 12 years! What I would take away from her work would be the different edits that she applies to her work. One element I have already learned is the right interviewing skills. What Robbin did well in the interview with Chance was that she made him feel comfortable saying what he really felt. This work is flawless in my eyes so I would think it needs no improvement.

Technical Tutorial-Animation

Technical tutorial

The skill I will teach in this tutorial is how to render in Adobe After affects. The purpose of the blog is to inform student's on how to use simple tools in after affects. You don't necessarily need this skill unless you are using this adobe tool.

The first step to rendering your animation out would be to import your file into after affects.

Next you move the file into the composition box and doing this turns it into a composition or an animation.

When you have all of your key frames set to your liking you need to send it to the render que

After it is sent to the render que you can render it out with ease by clicking the render button (make sure that once you render it, it should be sent to your desktop!) Once you click the render button it will start to load and then once it is completely rendered out it should make a little twinkle noise to say it is completed!

Professional Project Review-Animation

Profesional Project Review

The scope of the movie The Incredibles was mainly to give kids the entertainment of a movie. The story of the movie is a secret family of superheroes. The dad has the power of super strength, the mom has a power of super strech, the oldest daughter has a power of invisibility, the oldest son has the power of super speed, and the youngest son has a power of shape shifter. The story is told about a boy who worshiped the dad (bob.) Bob ignored him and the young boy became angered and when he grew up he became a super villain and tried to battle the whole family. To sum up the story quick the family wins because good always defeats evil. From the movie I will take away the extreme detail to the characters faces and hope to put these details into my maya projects in the future. One element that I have already used before that is in the movie would just be the 3D animation. The creator of the movie did the motion of the movie very well and I can tell that the project took a long time. There really is nothing bad with this project since it is a professional project done by pixar.

Personal project blog: Animation

 Story Project Blog

The scope of this project was to perfect our skills with a walk cycle, puppet tool, ball bounce,  and a multi-plane. My process of making this final project was first using a story board to lay out my plan of the scene clips and such. After planning out my project I worked on all the skills for two weeks to make my project the best it could be. What I learned along the way was how to fix simple mistakes and how to scan drawings into my computer. What I would different next time is I would use illustrator instead of photoshop to draw everything because illustrator makes everything look crisper. What I would do the same would be the general idea of the project which was a chase scene. The experiences that I will take away from this project will be the time management. I learned that I need to come in to finish the project and that I need to use my time wisely in class.

Tutorial-Video

"How to" Blog:Video

The skill for this blog that I will teach is how to make a clip slower or faster for a nice effect. The purpose for this "How to" is to teach someone how to make a clip more interesting. They could either make it slower and give it a sense of humor or make it faster to save time. The intended audience of this tutorial is mainly kids in my class because some of them ask and some of them go on google so I am trying to save their time by just telling them to go to my blog.

Step 1-Select a clip of choice to make slower or faster

Step 2-Right click your selected clip and scroll up to Speed Duration

Step 3-This little box will pop up and you change the percentage. Right now it is set to 100%. To slow it you should lower it to about 50% and to speed it up you should set it higher like 120%.

Personal Project review-Video

Featured review

For this project we were told that we needed to come up with a featured story. After brainstorming different ideas I nailed it down to the pressure of student athletes. I tried to mainly focus on students here at northwest that live the busy lifestyle. I tried to dig the deep details out of students by interviewing some of them. My process for completing this video was the initial idea, interviewing, and taking b-roll. I learned how to sequence the clips together with the help of Mr.Cooper. Professionally, I learned how to get correct b-roll for my video to help to make sense. What I would different would be getting more b-roll and remembering to turn on the sound so I could get some natural noise in my video. What I would do the same would be the interviews because I felt like my interviews were very strong throughout the whole video. The experiences that I will draw from this video would be the out of school video shooting which I found was very tiring because I had to do a lot of walking around the school.

Interview Review blog

Interview Review

Our latest assignment we were given was to do an interview with someone in our class. My process that I proceeded to do was to first do my actual interview with my partner Courtney Honors. I talked with Courtney about her summer trip and moved on once I got the right information. Once I had all my clips I made a script that matched with the topics from the interview. After I completed my voice overs and embedded them into my video I realized that the video is missing something called B-roll. B-roll taught me that It helps bring the video together and make it more organized. I learned that it is difficult to get B-roll when the event has already happened. For my next interview I will make sure my voice over doesn't just ask the questions and then the interviewee answer them. What I would do the same would be to include B-roll which will help make the video make more sense. The experiences I will draw from this project will be the face-to-face interview which defiantly helps with life skills.

Procedure video review

Procedure Video Review

The scope of our first project was to make a procedure video explaining one of the conducts in the Olathe Northwest student agenda. The process of making this video was first planning with a partner. We had to search for a procedure to perform and use storyboards to give our self's an image of which shots will be taken. After the planning we went to the field to shoot the right shots and get the correct angles. Once that was completed we took it back to Mr.Cooper's room and started editing in Adobe Premiere Pro. Once the clips were trimmed, music was entered in, and special effects were displayed my video was complete. During the process I luckily learned how to use our new HD cameras and also learned how to find my way around Premiere Pro. Not only did I learn the technology but I learned how to collaborate better with my partner and learned to listen to their ideas as well. What I would do different the next time would be to get ALL of the shots instead of just medium shots because my video was mostly medium which made it sort of plain. What I would do the same would be giving my video a little bit of humor like slow motion or silly music. The experiences that I gained during the project will definitely help with future projects throughout the year because instead of having to learn all new material which I did this time around hopefully the process will be quicker. In conclusion I am happy with my work but am also ready to learn more about the process of video making.

Reflection

Reflection

My team name was LIT and our product was a Shwamock. We collaborated as a group well and discussed deadlines. We struggled most with timing of some projects and creativeness. The next group project we do I think we should be more efficient. I would not change anything besides deadlines and the underestimating of our groups capabilities. I have improved in video design because I learned new tools. I worked on the video, logo, and presentation.

Invasive Species Website

Invasive Species

For the Invasive Species website we had to use so many tools I had no idea that all of those even existed. I think the hardest part was making sure all the coding was right.

The Houston

"The Houston"

This house I made over the past couple of weeks has been quite a challenge. Even though I had some trouble with the house I still ended up with a pretty decent outcome.

Below is a 3D animation of the whole house:

Name animation

So far in e9 I have had the privilege to go through three strands: video, graphic design, and animation. All three of these strands have been a good learning experience. I'm leaning towards video and graphic design for the next year and junior year I hope to focus mainly on journalism.  I'm  am really enjoying e-communication and I am defiantly planning on staying in the program.

10 words

10 Words
For this10 word project we had to come up with 10 words that describe us and our personality's. Instead of using a frame timeline I used a video timeline and make the words fly into the background picture. I would have to say that the video timeline was more difficult because we had to mess with every word in the picture instead of just copying frames. I thought that the timing was the most difficult in this project because if one word was timed wrong it practically messed up the whole project, but I stayed calm and fixed the problem by asking Mr.Olsen and my peers next to me. Overall I liked this project because it wasn't very stressful. I would defiantly recommend this project to a friend

Smile

For this project I enjoyed the whole procedure very much! I thought this was really fun because I was used to using the new tools and I could control it more. I would deeply suggest a friend to do something like this. I learned that you need to make many slides for the animation to look realistic. Also I leaned the squash and stretch method which really works!

Pink ball

For this project I had a task where I had to make a ball bounce up and down. Overall I thought this project was exciting and frustrating but once got the hang of it and used using new tools in photoshop it turned out pretty well. The only thing I would have changed was setting a background color so it doesn't look like a random ball bouncing up and down.
